Saturnisme
Installation, 2023
The project «Saturnisme» is an installation portrait about Saturní Ximénez (Maó, 1853-Paris 1933). The piece made for LAB Oliver, is a double projection video, in which I have used material from the Hernández Mora Collection and from Ximénez’s archive: portraits, engravings of his books, as well as images of other outstanding characters in his biography. For the recreation of these witnesses I have used artificial intelligence tools, starting from the same stories (letters or articles) and images of the protagonists, such as Natalia Turbin or Francesc Cambó.

The installation draws, through translucent layers of fabric, a complex and misty biography. That of a Menorcan who was born on the King’s Island and worked as a journalist, traveler, archaeologist and was accused of being a Russian spy, but also a spy for Kaiser Wilhelm in North Africa, for the Spanish, the Greeks and certain Abyssinian oligarchies. A cosmopolitan and eccentric intellectual, he lived in Paris, London, St. Petersburg, Port Arthur, Bering, New York, Bulgaria, Persia and Stockholm.
